Campaign Operations
Minimize

The main focus of the 62nd Fighting Falcons is flying in an ongoing, cooperative, campaign setting.  At each month's meeting, we advance the campaign progress and report on the results.

For our current operations using Falcon 4:Allied Force we have adopted an approach whereby we leave the enemy under AI control, but take direct control over all friendly air and (to a large extent) ground operations.  Our goal is to use as little AI as possible, and undertake all missions and roles personally.  To aid in this we have chosen Iron Fortress as the most compact of the Falcon 4 campaign settings.

To date we have limited AI air operations to AWACS and JSTARS, plus chopper recon flights, and the occasional BARCAP to cover things while we undertake longer-range strikes.

The reports from the meetings are available below.

Korea 2005 Iron Fortress - Campaign Summary

This campaign was only the second time in the entire history of the club that a campaign has been played to completion.  The only preceeding instance ocurred last century, when the club completed a victorious Falcon 3.0 campaign in the Israeli theatre.

The campaign was started on the 4th May 2008, and completed over the course of at least 18 club meetings (the records are incomplete).  Elapsed real time was 21 months, while the elapsed campaign time was four days, two hours and fourty-five minutes.

We flew more than 65 missions, at least 300 sorties, in that period.  If Falcon's statistics can be trusted, we lost 64 aircraft of those 300+.  The same statistics also indicate that 20 F-15's, 36 F-18's and one E-2C were lost from the AI squadrons.

The DPRK losses were over 400 aircraft, but it is not known how many of those were lost to our Patriot air defences.  Certainly, without the Patriots there to guard our airbases, we would have been swiftly put out of action, and the likelyhood of success would have been minimal.

Congratulations to all of our dedicated pilots, who contributed to our final success over the long course of this battle!
